The process of chewing the gum helps to refresh our breath, it stimulates acidic digestive fluid. Therefore if you chew a sugar free gum just after a meal, it will positively affect the process of digestion.

Man is chewing many kinds of viscous substances since ancient times. Ancient Greeks was popular of chewing resin exuded from the bark of the mastic tree, Maya Indians used gum from relic tree sapodilla and ancients Germans chewed a piece of wool soaked in honey. And nowadays this habit is fulfilled with the help of “bubble-gums” used for refreshing mouth, simulation of salivation or just to keep your mouth working with the habit of chewing.
It is also recommended that chewing gum should not be given to the children less then the age of 5 years because the reflexes responsible for the coordination of chewing and swallowing are not properly developed.

Chewing gum enhances the secretion of saliva.
Those people that have the disease of xerostomia or reduce saliva flow can also benefit from bubble gum as it helps in saliva secretion.
If you chew the gum right after the meal then it will help in the process of digestion, as it helps in the production of gastric juice in stomach.
By chewing gum the food that has been caught between your teeth become broken down and cleared, if remain in mouth then cause bacteria production.
Using sugar free gum is considered as a part of dental hygiene, that does all the work of tooth brush mouth wash and hard food.
Chewing gum also helps in the circulation of blood in gums and exercise of mastication muscles.
It was also believed in the past that chewing the gum also increase attentiveness, remove muscular tension, sleepiness and stress.
Now Doctors say that chewing gum is helpful for the patients of heartburns as it helps in the process of digestion.

Some companies use cheap food colors that are harmful for the health.
Don’t chew the gum at empty stomach because it produces acidic digestive fluids from glands of stomach membrane that may affect the stomach.
Most of the chewing gums contain the sweeteners that help in the production of bacteria, inflammation and anti-carious effects in the oral activity.
Physicians prohibits from non stop chewing of the gums.
Chewing gum is seriously harmful for the peoples suffering from the disease of periodontitis (The disease that cause loosening of the teeth).
One of the serious side effect related with this arises when it is been swallowed, because it increases gum mass in large intestine that is harmful.

Although chewing the gum is a great fun but there are some precautions that must be followed in order to get full taste of chewing.
